Farm info

Excelso refers to a Colombian export grade defined by screen size, slightly smaller than Supremo, but still high quality. The “EP” stands for European Preparation, meaning the beans are hand-sorted to remove defects and impurities, ensuring clean, consistent lots.

This coffee is fully washed, processed with traditional wet-mill methods, delivering a clean cup profile. Grown across diverse regions, such as Antioquia, Caldas, Valle del Cauca, Huila, Cauca, and Santander. Excelso brings together smallholder lots offering a unified, dependable flavor profile year-round.

Although “Excelso” is not tied to a specific farm or region, its consistent size and quality make it a mainstay in Colombian coffee exports, ideal for roasters who value uniformity and classic regional character.

Region

Colombia is one of the world’s most recognized coffee origins, celebrated for producing coffees all year-round. Its unique geography, spanning three mountain ranges, varied altitudes, and diverse microclimates, creates ideal conditions for growing coffee with distinctive regional profiles. Because each region experiences different flowering and harvesting periods, Colombian coffee can be harvested and shipped at multiple times throughout the year, ensuring a steady supply of fresh crop. In recent years, the rise of the specialty coffee sector has inspired many producers to separate their best lots, offering traceable coffees that highlight the unique story and characteristics of each origin. Alongside its diversity in flavor, Colombia is also a leader in certified coffees, with many producers working under standards such as Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, and Organic, combining quality with social and environmental responsibility.
