Farm info

Wigle de Oliveira is the third generation of coffee producers in his family. His grandfather began production and the tradition passed from father to son. Wigle always accompanied his parents on the farm and became passionate about coffee cultivation. He continued their work of always searching for improved quality.

The lack of equipment and land presented difficulties at the beginning, but today Wigle has his own processing machinery and a cement patio for drying. He is constantly improving the quality of his coffees. At each stage of the process he dedicates much love and care to sustainable and productive ways of working.

Córego São Pedro is located in the city of Alto Caparaó and eight of its ten hectares are planted with coffee. Wigle and his family carry out most of the labor on the farm to care for the 35,000 coffee trees currently planted.

Region

Matas de Minas

The Matas de Minas coffee region is in the southeastern part of the Minas Gerais state, just over the border from Espirito Santo, with Alto Caparaó as its most recognized municipality.

With a distinct topography featuring rugged mountain terrains and large variations in elevation (between 400 and 1100 meters above sea level), Matas de Minas makes a perfect region for growing specialty coffees. Because of its specific features, special care is taken in growing all the crops of the region. Coffee is harvested manually to select for only the most mature beans, the trees are planted with wider spacing and receive more sunlight, only treated water is used for washing and pulping the beans, and drying is done meticulously and carefully. Together, these factors favor the production of the highest quality coffees, full-bodied and with great nuances in both aroma and flavors.
