Fazenda da Pedra has been in Anacley Pereira Bustamante Abreu’s family for five generations. Matriarch Inácia Alves Pereira was the first to plant coffee here in the 1930s, and Inácia’s grandson José Clênio was a pioneer in specialty coffee production in the Mantiqueira de Minas region. Anacley and her sister Clevane took over the production, management, and marketing of the coffee from the farm in 2015 after their father, José Clênio, passed away.
Anacley has a background in veterinary medicine, and she and her sister had to learn the business practically from scratch. They faced difficulties and growing pains, but their goal was to maintain the quality that had become a principle on the farm. They learned quickly in their new roles, placing first in the UFLA Golden Cup competition in 2017 and 2018, as well as winning prizes in the regional Mantiqueira de Minas competitions.
The family continues to grow more involved in the process of coffee production, with specialty coffee now a passion and tradition in the household. Anacley’s son, Lucas, currently studies coffee production and has become a valuable partner in daily life on the farm. The greatest motivation today is to ensure that the legacy of specialty coffee survives for many more generations at Fazenda da Pedra.
