Farm info

Aura Nidia Pachongo’s farm, Las Veraneras, is located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood. She inherited the farm from her family many years ago. The property is situated at 1800 meters in the mountains north of the Rio Paez. The main harvest takes place during the rainy season from May to July, and the final passes of cherry collection occur in August and September.

The 2-hectare farm has bananas, vegetables, and chickens in addition to coffee. All is farmed without chemical inputs. Finca Las Veraneras participated in the Producer Alliance program with USAID to install depulping equipment and fermentation tanks. After being depulped, coffee dry ferments for 20 hours in a plastic tank. Once it is washed, the coffee is transferred to a shaded parabolic dryer. Aura is a member of ASPROFECH producer association in the region of San Luis Tierradentro.
