Fabiana Maria Silvestre is part of the third generation of coffee producers in the lush region of Mantiqueira and she carries with her the family legacy with passion. In 2017, she married a dedicated coffee producer, and together, they manage Pinhalzinho dos Fagundes farm.
Pinhalzinho dos Fagundes spans 33 hectares, of which 19 hectares are planted with coffee of the Yellow Catuaí, Arara, Red Catuaí, Mundo Novo and Rubi varieties. Their production totals 500 bags of 60kg coffee annually. Their property, which is named after the region where it is rooted, stands as a living testimony to traditions passed down from generation to generation. Despite contemporary challenges such as the scarcity of qualified labor, Fabiana and her husband embraced these obstacles to turning their dreams into reality with each harvest.
With their commitment to quality and excellence, they have achieved multiple recognitions including being finalists and champions in prestigious coffee quality competitions, bringing honor not only to their property but also highlighting the coffees produced in the Mantiqueira region.
Fabiana and her husband are deeply committed to environmental and social responsibility. They prioritize the preservation of the environment and the promotion of good social practices in every aspect of their work on the farm.
This lot of Rubi variety coffee underwent Fermented Natural processing. Rubi comes from the cross between the Catuaí and Mundo Novo varieties, carried out by technicians from the Agronomic Institute of Campinas (IAC) in 1960. It has the characteristic crown shape of the Catuaí cultivars, that is, the plant is low, with a slightly rounded crown, with fruit maturation a little earlier and more uniform than that of Catuaí.
Fabiana Maria Silvestre has also worked with AMECAFÉ Mantiqueira, a company that was founded in 2017 with the purpose of supporting women coffee producers in Brazil’s Mantiqueira de Minas growing region. Composed primarily of small and medium sized farms, the association has grown from its original 28 members to include 130 producers across the region.
We teamed up with Cafebras, one of our Brazil export partners and part of the Montesanto Tavares Group, to support AMECAFÉ’s coffee competition since the 2020/2021 harvest season to celebrate the mission and efforts of this organization. Top winning lots, each less than 10 bags in total, are imported to different markets to share them with roasters across the globe!
